Advocacy and protests come from voices that have been suppressed or even silenced.
They challenge the current status quo of the hierarchical power and segregated society.
More importantly,
it calls for deeper individual reflections of our daily interactions and connections.
Why do we only stand together in fights,
but we remain distant and disinterested at one another in our daily life?
Communication and respect should happen in the everyday life.
Anger delivers a powerful impact, but it does not go far.
Radical change can occur overnight, but only sustainable effort can sustain the change.
The bigger challenge of social change is more than making the change happen, but how
dialogue and connectedness are maintained after that.
Because as time goes by, we can no longer just maintain our black and white views.
We have to dig into the complexity of the issues.
We cannot just look at asking for others to change, but also we have to change ourselves.
In order to move things forward,
we need to look at the others’ perspectives.
And that is often when movements often become stagnated.
