A bud came out between leaves.
It sets its sight on the neighboring flowers and thought,
‘Look at those beautiful roses!
I am going to be like them!’

Days passed,
and the blossoming day came.
The growing bud turned into a leafy shoot.
There were no flowers.
No bright beautiful colors.
No pleasant scents.

The grown plant now got upset.
It firstly thought,
‘How ugly am I! I am not as good as the others!’
Then it became worried,
‘Who would like me? I would not even be noticed.’

Until someone came over and said,
‘Look at this lovely green!
I want to take it home.’
This plant then found a new home.
It was happy to be who it was, a green plant.

Many of our lives are green leaves.
Many of our disappointments in life come from comparing ourselves with those few others who seemingly lead the ‘better and glamorous lives’.

The point is whether we love ourselves as who we are.
If we allow more respect and appreciation in this society,
we don’t have to always feel being prone to judgments and vulnerability.
Self acceptance comes from the self,
and the self can never be separated from many other things individuals.
If we are allowed to love each other as who we are,
we learn to love ourselves.
And certainly we are no longer left alone.
